Chivas is out of Charm and Leo. When he was just 24 hours I phoned Helene and told her that I had the most extraordinary little red boy. She said “keep him” to which I replied "we can't". But we did, and this pup has never made us anything but proud.
At 14 months, Chivas stands at 27 inches and weighs 137. He is a well-boned lovely red fawn with plenty of black pigment and not a white hair on him. He has a compact, square body that is rock solid. With his short back, correct angulation and lovely square head he is of excellent breed type. He has a strait almost dead on bite and a perfectly level topline. A wide, well developed chest and muscular hind quarters allow for good clean ,powerful movement both coming and going
. Chivas is a pleasure to show in the show ring. He is always breeder -owner handled. Chivas earned his Canadian Championship while he was still in the Jr. Puppy Class. On his 8th month birthday he got his first BPIG. At the age of 9 months, Chivas went BOB at the Bullmastiff Fanciers of Canada Regional Booster in Three Rivers and earned his 2nd BPIG that day. Just after turning 12 months, Chivas earned his FCC Jr Championship in one 4-show weekend. In that weekend Chivas picked up 2 more BPIG and 4 mentions of excellent. He then went on to earn his UKC Championship and at the age of 13 months won a Reserve Best in Show. At 14 months our boy Chivas is rated UKC #1 Bullmastiff for 2012!
Although Chivas has proven himself as a great show dog, this gentle giant is above all a loving, kind and goofy member of our family. He has not yet found a lap that he cannot squeeze onto.
Chivas, like his namesake, improves with age. In his first out as an adult he obtained multiple group placements as well as a UKC Best In Show and a RBIS. In spite of all of this his true beauty lies within. Chivas will be headed to the US in 2014 to work on his title. Here are some pictures taken at shows this past summer, and some over the years.
In 2014 Chivas turned 3 years old and what a year it was for us.. Early in the spring he was awarded his Canadian Grand Championship. He was not shown in the summer as we had puppies at home. In the fall we made a trip to beautiful Syracuse New York where he picked up his 2nd major and obtained his Us Champioship. Multiple group placements in a very competitive working group has earned Chivas the honor of being Canada's #5 Show Bullmastiff for 2014.
Continuing to mellow as he ages, our beloved Chivas will be turning 4 at the end of the summer of 2015. He continues to be very successful in the show ring and has recently obtained a Best In Show and Reserve Best in Show on the same weekend. We could not be prouder of this very special boy.
Chivas's fourth year in the show ring has proven to be the most successful yet. Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show and multiple group placement has earned him the placement of #2 Bullmastiff in Canada
